Health & Safety Manager - Full Time Position

Rheinschmidt Tile & Marble, a leading tile contracting company is looking for a Health and Safety Manager to ensure safety is at the forefront of everything we do.  You will create, support, and reinforce our commitment to safety company-wide, our local office, as well as our job site locations.  The Health and Safety Manager will work under the direction of the Company Officers.  You will supervise, coach, train, and collaborate with employees, develop safety training procedures and videos and resolve any safety issues to comply with OSHA standards.  The ability to formulate safety procedures and communicate guidelines to a diverse workforce is essential.  Your goal is to ensure the workplace meets or exceeds all requirements and actively promotes occupational health and safety best-practices.

Part of this role will require travel to job site locations on a regular basis.

 

 

Essential Functions:

Health & Safety

  • Develop and execute programs, policies, procedures, and training to meet or exceed government regulations, industry standards, GC requirements, and insurance companies’ requirements to enhance safety performance
  • Research and resolve a wide variety of complex safety-related issues
  • Evaluate, update and develop training programs based on OSHA procedures/requirements using knowledge, skills, and abilities compulsory for development and maintaining programs
  • Develop and implement audits to track and identify gaps in location compliance with Rheinschmidt Tile & Marble policies and procedures
  • Design and deliver safety training materials covering all aspects of construction safety and hazardous materials
  • Works closely with industry specific equipment to assess associated health and safety risks
  • Administer and review Site Specific Safety Plans and Job Hazard Analysis
  • Lead a company wide system to identify and evaluate hazards, and implement effective controls
  • Visit and evaluate our project job sites
  • Provide supervisor and management training on root cause analysis
  • Facilitate the completion of a company-wide annual Health and Safety training plan
  • Maintain health and safety professional certifications or current training necessary to be abreast of trends, legislation, and best practices, and to relay all information to Company Officers, and Project Managers
  • Design and present Corporate and site-specific training programs as needed
  • Leads and coordinates health & safety program auditing
  • Empower employees and lead by example with the attitude and the behavior of “Safety First”
  • Participate in external audits
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned 

Project Manager

  •  Review and coordinate construction drawings with general contractor, architects, and superintendents
  • Manage updates and weekly reports for project(s)
  • Review the timely approval of all change orders and billings, and cost control budget adjustments
  • Ensure specified and approved products are installed properly
  • Monitor project compliance with contract documents and safety – daily
  • Manage project closeouts, including punch list and final documentation
  • Read and fully understand plans and specifications
  • Manage all document control of RFI submittals, change orders, correspondence, permits, drawings, specs, and reports in a systematic and traceable manner

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is preferred or Certification with equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of Safety Experience
  • 2-3 years of Construction Field Experience
  • Expert knowledge of Health and Safety programs, policies & procedures
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening, persuasion, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to drive a strong safety philosophy and implements constructive behavior changes in company safety
  • Capable to travel within the United States
  • Personable, outgoing, competitive, and driven to lead
  • Outstanding speaking, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and have the ability to learn other programs and software used by company
  • Ability to work under pressure, stay organized, and continuously meet deadlines
